FAQFrequently Asked QuestionsI am interested in volunteering. Where do I start? You can either fill out the interest form on this site (with indication of which volunteer orientation you will attend), or call the Human Resources Department directly at (920) 231-3590. The 45-minute volunteer orientation is your first step though. Why do I have to sit through a 45-minute orientation? We like to prepare all of our volunteers to have basic knowledge about the Red Cross and what we do, so you can answer questions when you are asked (and you will be asked). It also gives us a chance to explain the different opportunities that we have for volunteers, so that we can match you with what is most appropriate for you. Do you have opportunities for families to volunteer together? There are certain times throughout the year that an entire family could come to assist with a special event or a blood drive, but there are not regular occurring events for families. It is best to indicate your interest for family opportunities during your orientation. What do you have for Youth (under age 18)? Currently we are in the process of developing new initiatives for Youth volunteers. If you are interested in information on how you can get involved please call 231-3590 and ask for Quintin. Can I fulfill my court-ordered community service with the Red Cross? We do allow people to fulfill community service hours pending what projects we have available at the time. We will try to accommodate you if you give us plenty of notice. I have a busy schedule and cannot always volunteer at the same time every week (and sometimes not even at all during a particular week) is that okay? Yes! There are different hour requirements for different volunteer positions. We can help match you with something that you enjoy and that fits into your busy schedule. Is it possible to just come and volunteer for a one-time opportunity or on a weekend? Our office is open 8:30am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, so it is not always possible to have people volunteer on weekends. However, there are times that we have special events and blood drives on weekends which would allow an opportunity for weekend hours.
